My name is Liz Kerry-Reed. I
completed my formal training in psychotherapy in 2003 with a Diploma
from the Metanoia Institute and a Masters Degree in Gestalt
Psychotherapy from Middlesex University in London. Subsequent specialist
trainings have included bereavement, couples counselling, bodywork and
clinical supervision for other therapists. I have been registered with
UKCP, the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy since 2003 and since
2008 with the EAP, European Association for Psychotherapy.
My experience as a counsellor/psychotherapist in England has included
working in a hospital setting with patients diagnosed with cancer and
their families and also facilitating supervision groups for nurses. I
have worked for twelve years as a counsellor/psychotherapist in a
private capacity with a number of issues ranging from loss and
bereavement in its many forms, life-changing circumstances arising from
illness or retirement, as well as more long-term psychological
conditions. I particularly enjoy working with relational issues arising
between couples, with families, or developmental issues with children.
I work with both individuals and couples, sometimes looking at problems
arising currently, sometimes exploring together events and influences
from the past that may affect current patterns of relating. Sometimes,
particularly with children, I may offer painting, play or movement, as a
further means of self-expression.
I moved to France in May 2008, and have been working with both French
and English clients since I registered my practice in September 2008. I
work in self-contained practice-rooms at my home near Berric, 20 minutes
south of Vannes.
I offer one-hour sessions and usually see clients once a week for a
mutually agreed number of sessions, depending on the nature of the
difficulties and the wishes of the client. Before entering into an
agreement, I suggest an initial short meeting free of charge, as an
opportunity to understand what counselling or psychotherapy means and
how it may help. My fees can vary and be negotiated at that time. I
prefer to work in person with clients but also have experience of
working on the telephone or using Skype as an alternative.
